Sausage Potato + Egg Quiche (dairy-free, gluten free, Whole30, Paleo)

If you're anything like me, having a quick and easy, ready-made breakfast makes all the difference on busy weekday mornings as I'm trying to get everyone ready and out the door. These mini Sausage, potato + egg quiches are just the ticket! They only take a short time to prep and bake on the weekends and I can store them in the fridge to have on hand all week long. Just reheat a couple and head out the door!

German Chocolate Brownies (dairy + gluten free)

Growing up, I remember my mom making German chocolate cake and I was not a fan. I think it was because of the coconut and pecans mixed into the icing and I didn't really care for either of those ingredients. Now, I'm a HUGE fan of both coconut and pecans, so I'm all for some good German chocolate!

I made this German Chocolate Brownie recipe to share with my co-workers. We have so many food days, it's a bit ridiculous - but fun and always delicious! This recipe is certainly and keeper and one I'll be making for pot-lucks and get togethers often.

Chocolate Dipped Cones (dairy-free)

This past summer and early fall, we got really bored with sitting around the house and, though the weather was hot, we found some really fun ways to keep busy and spend time together as a family.

Our boys enjoyed throwing rocks in the river. Dawson especially loved watching the trains go by. We played at parks, visited the zoo, fed the ducks at a nearby pond, and went hiking. On occasion, we topped off all of our outdoor fun with a cold, ice cream treat. When you have a child with a severe milk allergy, going out and enjoying ice cream together as a family can prove to be very difficult. We don't have any dairy-free ice cream options so we usually have to first stop at the store and pick up safe ice cream before hitting the ice cream shop for everyone else.

Apple Cinnamon Quick Bread (dairy + gluten free)

Updated 10-27-17
This recipe has been a family favorite since I posted in originally 3 1/2 years ago. I especially love to make it when the weather starts turning crisp and it begins to feel like fall. This is the perfect warm, comforting breakfast or snack!

Grilled Fresh Vegetables

Grilled Fresh Vegetables
Makes approximately 6 servings
  • 1 1/2 purple onion, sliced thick

  • 1 bunch green onions
  • Olive oil spray
  • Garlic salt, Italian seasoning, or other preferred seasoning
Wash and slice vegetables in advance. Preheat grill to medium heat. Spray veggies with olive oil spray. Using heat-proof tongs, place veggies on grill, either directly on the grates or in a grill pan. Season with garlic salt or other seasoning.

Grill for about 8 minutes, or until veggies are tender crisp and have grill marks, turning halfway through. Remove veggies from grill and place on a platter. Cover with foil until ready to serve.

When I was in college, my roommate worked at a really upscale restaurant as a server. I would spend my evenings hanging out at the restaurant as she was about to end her shift and, while I was waiting, I would get to taste-test some really amazing desserts. Thus my love of creme brûlée was born.

Citrus flavors just scream "Summer" to me and I'm loving lime right now just about as much as I love lemon. This was a fun take on Key Lime Pie using minimal ingredients, vegan and gluten free, and very similar to a cheesecake dessert. While I love these Key Lime Squares, lemon, being my first love, will definitely be the next flavor I will make of this delicious dessert!

COOLA Suncare: Our Summer Skincare Go-To

I received this product for free from Moms Meet to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

Taking care of my skin hasn't always been a priority of mine. My kids on the other hand, I've always done everything I can to keep their baby soft skin from being damaged. Now that I'm in my 30s, I finally understand the importance of caring for my own skin too. A few years ago I had a "suspicious" spot on my skin, which luckily did not end up being skin cancer, but the anxiety I felt while awaiting those results was enough to make me realize just how important it was. When I come across brands of skincare and sun care products that I feel really great about, it makes me ridiculously happy.

Veggie-Go's Fruit + Veggie Snacks

I received this product for free from Moms Meet  to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links

Like most kids (I assume), my kiddos love fruit snacks. But I don't always feel good about giving them the sugar-filled treats very often. I worry that the more artificially sweetened, flavored, "junk" food they eat, the less I will be able to convince them to opt for food choices that are healthier for them.

Lemon Meringue Pie Ice Cream {dairy + gluten free}

We are loving these fun summer days and hot summer nights. We've spent so much time swimming, playing outside until the sun sets, and just enjoying our time together. The midwestern heat is beginning to get the best of us though, and we've needed some new frozen treats to cool off with!

Root Beer Float Cupcakes {dairy + gluten free}

One of my favorite summertime treats as a kid was a root beer float. I finally was able to share my love of them with my little guy a couple of years ago (I hadn't really thought of doing it sooner) and he loved it. Now he asks for them all the time.

Healthy Meals for Busy Moms: Sun Basket Meal Kits

I received product for free from Moms Meet to use and post my honest opinions. I was compensated for this post and this page may contain affiliate links.

I love to cook. And bake. And grocery shop. I know that might make me a little strange, but between being a foodie and a food-allergy mom, I spend so much time planning meals around our dietary needs that are also unique and delicious, that I've grown to love every step. Yes, I am also that mom who does a little happy dance in the aisles when I find new-to-us, safe products.

Dirty Chai Protein Shake (dairy + gluten free)

At the start of 2017, I set a goal to be healthier. This included exercising more, drinking more water each day, and eating healthier. Of course, I set a weight loss goal too because I really hadn't made my diet a priority in awhile. If I'm being totally honest, since my pregnancy with my littlest bug.

Blackberry Hand Pies (gluten free + vegan)

I'm just loving blackberries at the moment. My littlest kiddo is a fan of just about any fruit, but blackberries, raspberries and blueberries are definite favorites. If he even catches a glimpse of them, he starts saying "apple, apple, apple" (he calls everything "apple" right now) and will throw a fit if he doesn't get them. Needless to say, it is difficult to keep any of them around the house for very long. This child would eat a pint of berries in one sitting if I would let him!

Toasted Turkey Bacon Club Sandwich (dairy + gluten free)

There is a local brewery in our town that has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. However, if you're looking for dairy-free or gluten-free choices, the options are few and far between. We don't visit very often anymore, but I still think about some of my favorite foods from the past, like a delicious club sandwich.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes (dairy + gluten free)

It's birthday week! Or.... really just an excuse to make cupcakes. ;)

I always try and create a new cake/dessert recipe for my birthday, because no one else in this house is making me a cake, and buying one really isn't much of an option. Last year it was these amazing strawberry cupcakes, that are probably my favorite ever. I posted the question on my Facebook page about what flavor I should try this year, and as soon as I read "Mint Chocolate Chip" I knew that was it!

I was just recently talking about our healthier eating plan around here (which I followed up with a dessert post - ha!), and here is one example of our healthier breakfast choices! I've been seeing Chia Pudding recipes everywhere. They're super versatile and you can really add any flavors you like, plus mix-ins, toppings, etc.

How are the New Year's Resolutions going? So far so good over here, which is why it's been a bit quiet on the site this past month. My eating habits got a bit (read: a lot) lax toward the end of 2016 and needed reigned back in. It's so easy to make excuses and put off cleaning up bad habits during the holidays.
