Whenever we plan a vacation, I always feel like it takes nearly as long to shop, plan, and pack for it as the trip itself will take. Having one child with a life-threatening food allergy and another too little to understand why he's being dragged along with us away from the comfort of his home, makes even planning a trip a task within itself. Thankfully, I had a few days before we left to prepare and pack. And to make it even better, our resort had a full kitchen, making the safe food and baby bottle prep that much simpler.
I planned to pick up most of our food items from a local grocery store once we arrived to our destination, but knew I would need to bring along a few hard to find allergy friendly necessities in case the stores there didn't carry them, plus lots of baby items like formula, diapers, wipes, and toys so I wouldn't have to spend a fortune once we got there.
A few days before our leaving, I made a quick trip to Babies"R"Us, with the intention of picking up a new swimsuit/rash guard for the littlest, along with a new umbrella stroller to make life a bit easier and less bulky. While there, I headed back to the diaper section to make sure we had enough of the necessities. I was excited to find WaterWipes. If anyone knows me at all, I absolutely love to find new items for my kiddos that I can feel good about. WaterWipes are a chemical-free baby wipe. They contain only two ingredients: 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.
WaterWipes are durable, effective, and don't contain any of the harmful chemicals that you might find in other baby wipes. They're a safer, natural option for my little one and that is my top priority. My philosophy? The fewer ingredients the better...and this is the same when it comes to food products or even products I'll be using on my kiddos skin as well!
I picked up a couple of packs along with some other baby goodies that I couldn't pass up. During our week-long trip, I was so glad to have brought WaterWipes along with me on multiple occasions, not just for diaper changes, but for cleaning up little and big kid messes too!
We took a pontoon boat out with 17 of us on board for half a day and having a natural, safe product to clean up hands after eating was a relief. We have multiple kids with food allergies and this helped us keep possible allergens at bay.
On one particularly rainy day, our crew descended upon an indoor water park where we ate lunch and then let the kids play and play for hours. Again, having WaterWipes to clean up after this sweet babe made me feel so much better.
Out of our total of nine kids, four with multiple severe food allergies and two babies, we probably spend more money on wipes in a year than most people do in a lifetime. It is just so convenient to pull out a pack of natural, safe wipes to clean up after lunch or ice cream and snow cones. Much less stressful than trying to corral children and keep them from touching each other while making your way to some obscure restroom!
While I was somewhat skeptical at first that WaterWipes wouldn't work as well as our normal wipes for those dirty diaper changes, I was pleasantly surprised that the results were just as good as any wipe I've tried before.
Guess what?! We made it through our four hour road trip (both ways), not without a few tears of course. But our family vacation together was so much fun and I love all of the memories we made together. I can't wait to do it again!
